Purpose +
Promise
As members of the Impact Arts Co-op, we envision a world in which historically marginalized individuals have increased access to ethical, sustainable, and equitable funding sources to catalyze their creative and entrepreneurial ventures. Together, we accept Call to Action #92 of the Canadian Truth and Reconciliation Commission. We also align ourselves with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. With this vision in mind, we strive to work with other stakeholders who lead purpose-driven initiatives and have a desire to create new ways of doing business at the systemic level. An example of this type of venture philanthropy is modeled by our international partner Zebras Unite and its Inclusive Capital Collective. As Zebra Unite members ourselves, we utilize intergenerational and intercultural knowledge, technology-empowered solutions, and diverse ways of knowing to empower women-identifying changemakers who are focused on taking action and celebrating results.

Our Lived Values

Power of Storytelling
Storytelling is knowledge sharing embodied in practice. It builds on ancient wisdom to more fully realize transformative education. We are changing previous business models which have governed traditional project life cycles by capturing the potential of the full value chain. By respecting multiple forms of communication and learning through deep listening, our partners become better equipped to understand the unique needs of the communities they serve and co-create their impact stories.

Justice and Healing
As a multi-stakeholder co-op governed by wisdom passed to us from our Indigenous, Black, Brown and White matriarchs, we know decolonized financial innovation is needed for self-determination. Repairing financial trauma is critical for building community wealth. Our differentiator is developing community-based skills, deploying AI, and cultivating human-centric practices to intensify deep listening and two-eyed seeing, removing the shackles of a broken, patriarchal system that harms all genders.

Diversity of Ways of Knowing
Individuals of different ages, from various cultural backgrounds, with different levels of education, and walking different paths in life make up our team. We work with investors, their partners, social entrepreneurs, and our team to build healthy and creative working ecosystems that benefit from a myriad of perspectives. Discovering and stabilizing common ground builds the trust and security for teams to address the worlds most pressing issues.

Sustainability
Using a broad-based, comprehensive, impact assessment infrastructure, we assist all stakeholders to measure the historical, ongoing, and projected impacts of their entrepreneurial ventures. This impact assessment infrastructure is a holistic tool that combines the opportunities of AI with the best of human innovation. Understanding holistic sustainability is critical to maximize the potential of bringing us closer to reconciliation, reparation, and making the UN SDGs a global reality.

Two-Eyed Seeing (Etuaptmumk in Mi’kmaw)
Two-Eyed Seeing (Etuaptmumk in Mi’kmaw) embraces learning to see from one eye with the strengths of Indigenous knowledges and ways of knowing, and from the other eye with the strengths of mainstream knowledges and ways of knowing, and to use both these eyes together, for the benefit of all – as envisaged by Elder Albert Marshall.
